How to paint a sphere in watercolour: mastering smooth transitions

In this tip video I show you how you can achieve really smooth transitions from light to dark colours by working in layers.  And I base it on how I painted one pea – which is of course spherical in shape.

You’ll see how I get, but then overcome, messy hard line edges as I build up the layers and end up with a 3D result:
